Phew.

So the show on Crescent ST went up and came down, and I'm almost at a point where I can relax for a bit.

The exhibition went really well. A few hundred people showed up for the opening and nearly 60 bottles of wine were downed in three hours. We held the show in an alternative space we discovered - an abandoned bible school on the second floor of this crumbling old building below Mad Hatters - and I already want to move in. Very cool space. The show was a pretty loose variety of new work from Concordia's painting and drawing association, some of it really good, some of it predictably awful. It was a great time all around though. But then, I was halfway delerious from having been up until 5 a.m the previous night hanging spotlights with Quickley. But like Lavar used to say on Reading Rainbow, "Don't take my word for it.. ch-check out the (poorly recorded) videotape."

I got an amazing response to my new work (well, "amazing" is perhaps relative, considering that my reputation in the art-world to date amounts to my roommates occasionally thinking I'm cool ). I received a couple offers to buy the work, and I was approached by a gallery owner who might be interested in showing part or all of the series. It's worth mentioning that anybody who identifies themselves as an "art dealer" is usually about as trustworthy as a sex pervert knee-deep in a kiddie pool of KY, but it's encouraging all the same to hear nice things about yer stuff.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, school is eating my life. I overloaded myself a bit at registration-time and I'm paying for it now. What little social life I was maintaining before Christmas has since turned into a darkly obsessive soap opera starring myself, a jar of ink, two dozen sticks of charcoal and a rapidly dwindling supply of canvas. It has, at least been productive. Apologies to anybody I've been neglecting.

As soon as I find my camera cable, I'll post shiny new pictures of the show and of the work that's been keeping my life firmly entrenched under a rock.

On the radio: "Backdoor Santa" by Clarence Carter. 10 points if you can guess what kind of presents he's bringing to your back door. Aw yeah.
