I've had that, the best i can do with it is remember what it's like when it was good with them because that's always true; stuff affecting them now may be what's causing them to be that way. Otherwise I try and think of them from a third-party viewpoint/ sort of back off to like first meeting them again. Sometimes you should just protect yourself and just walk away from it for a while especially if it's making you ill 'cos that's helping no one. The distance is therapeutic. Be strong

The only problem is when there are other people in the line of fire in which case I do explain it to them but that's not much comfort for them, a bit like telling them that your cat farts
