St. Valentines Day 2009 reprise
It is 10:00 am and I am sitting in a coffee house on a large mid western college campus. This coffee house is known for being owned by a local evangelical Christian church. Think along the lines of Campus Crusade. Today is there "appreciation for singles day" yesterday was their Romantic Night. I am in suprisingly good spirits and doing my taxes. Yes I like to do my taxes. The old fashioned way by hand.
I am going to stay in tonight. I'd of course like some companionship tonight. After all I am in a basement apartment and its winter still. Luckily I netflixed the two Suicide Girls dvds, and a King Crimson concert.
Did I mention I love Valentines? I choo choo choose you. That was probably one of my favorite Simpson's moments. You see I am Ralphie. Minus of course the weight problem and mild retardation. But in school I was Ralphie.
I gave all the girls personalized valentines on Valentines day. I remember sending candy and carnation grams to all the girls in the class. (I was always a tease) One memorable year I received two candy grams. One from myself....and one from "anonymous" I never figured out who that was but probably my best friend Amy at the time.
Having female friends as best friends (for a guy) has to be one of the nicest things out there. You have this wonderful person who loves you, and respects you and can give you insight both as a woman, and as a friend. I've always had female friends and I don't regret it. it also makes Valentines a lot easier to celebrate when you're single.
