Just to catch up...
For all future reference, SBC Global/AT&T/Whateverthefucktheywanttobecallednow officially blows my ass.
Here's the story. I moved. I had SBC DSL at the old place, and the place I moved into also had SBC DSL. So, when I went to cancel the old account, I specifically asked what I needed to do in order to keep my email addresses. They said to call back within 60 days of canceling the account in order to set up a dial-up account to store the addresses on. Sounds good. That was October 1st, so I marked my calendar to set up the dial up on or before November 30th.
November 30th comes around. I call to set up dial up. After 25 minutes of answering pointless questions and getting transfered all over the planet, I finally get it done. They say it will take 24 to 48 hours to fully activate, so I might not be able to check my mail for a day or so. I can live with that. Uncomfortably, but I will survive.
An hour later, my email no longer works. I figure it's just that delay, so I wait.
Fast forward to today. I'm getting a message saying my email account has been suspended. So, time to call and find out whats up.
Here is what they tell me: My account has been canceled because I did not reactivate it within 30 days. There is nothing I can do right now, I have to call back tomorrow and talk with the billing department. They don't work on Sundays.
Funny how they didn't mention that to me on Fiday when they set up the dial up account with the same emails. You might think they would know I was on day 59 of 30....
This will make a minimum of 3 days with no email. I've already had people asking me why their emails are bouncing back saying my account no longer exists. Kinda depressing, since I rely on that for work and gigs.
Fucking frustrating.
And no rehearsal tonight.....
Fuckers.
