We had an earthquake

Nothing big though.
According to the USGS it was a magnitude 3.8 located 25 miles NNW of Asheville. It happened at 11:09:41 PM

I didn't feel it though. I was at the Of Montreal show.
Everything was shaking there.

----------------------------------------------update----------------------------------------------

There was actually a woman on the news that said she thought aliens were invading. Most people thought their water heater of furnace was blowing up.

The Of Montreal show was excellent. It was packed with people, many of who I've never seen before. I'm guessing there were a lot of people from out of town. Almost everyone, even your most hardened scenester kid, was shaking their booties. There were even spontaneous bursts of hand clapping. For those of you who haven't heard Of Montreal, they're like a mid sixties psychedelic pop band crossed with a eighties new wave/art rock. Think the Byrds and Oingo Boingo. Being unfamiliar with most of their stuff I can't really say what songs they played, but their set was real tight and seemed very rehearsed. They even had some synchronized dance moves, and some high fashion poses. I imagine it was pretty much the same set they played in Chapel Hill. My only problem with their performance was that they seemed kind of detached from the audience. They said little between songs, and didn't really make any connections with us. It was a good show though.

The opening band MGMT (Management) was fun too. It was two guys making poppy electronic dance music with moments of noise thrown in. They were very similar to Art Lord and the Self Portraits (who are going to be at the ACRC on Monday) or Le Tigre, except men and less serious if that's possible. They were a good warm up for the headline act.

I'm going to see a great Asheville based band on Friday: The Reigning Sound at Broadways.

BTW I'm grown to hate encores. Why can't a band just play all their stuff and end it. I find encores kind of egocentric, but I guess bands have to do it because the crowds expect it.

Yeah, it kinda looks like they were all dropping out. As if the anti-Harry Potter groups didn't have enough to complain about, now they are going to say that it condones dropping out of school. I still can't believe I've finished it already. I'm so sad. i'm still carrying it around in my bad like new pages will show up or something. I really should go to the library.
