Where did the summer go?

Now I know there is still a month left of summer, but summer is now officially winding down. For me the two final summer events are always Bele Chere and my birthday. Bele Chere is over and my birthday has rolled around again.

Bele Chere: There were lots of people. Estimates are around 300,000

Friday afternoon

Saturday afternoon
(Notice the nice fellows trying to save our souls)

Sunday afternoon
(I thought Sunday's were God's day to rest.)

There was lots of music, but the majority of it was jam-based. puke There were some that weren't too bad however.

This band had some horny dudes in it.

I didn't see much music but I did catch The Goodies at Stella Blue on Friday. They always put on a good show.

Of course there are some things you see at every festival:

Mostly white people dancing!

Drum Circles!

Copious amounts of food to gorge yourself with.

Local Crafts?

Soggy children.

Random friends.
(There are some of my friends Marshall and Travis and Travis's son)

Amazingly after all the food is eaten, the bands are packed up, the children are tired, and the hippies passed out, a small army of sanitation workers hit the streets removing the 50 metric tons or so of garbage, and the streets return to normal. As if it never happened. All except of that foul stink of used cooking oil that lingers around downtown. Much like the smell down in Chinatown.

Monday afternoon

That's pretty much it for Bele Chere.

So Thirty-one years ago at 8:00 pm I officially arrived in the world. It's been pretty much downhill from there. I don't particularly look forward to my birthday anymore. It's just a reminder of another year in which I've once again failed to accomplish anything. I was born here and I'm still here. There are some adventures in between, a few small victories, and touches of greatness, but, for the most part, it's been a life of failed aspirations and wasted potential. The sad part is time goes by more and more quickly every year. Our memories get longer as our lives get shorter, too bad it can't be the other way around. That is, I think, the reason why time goes by so fast. Each year we pile on more memories to shorten our perception of time.
I was hoping to have some fun on my birthday, I had hoped to go to Six Flags or Carowinds, and act like a kid again, but being an adult, I have to work. Stupid responsibilities. Stupid age. I'm too old to die young, and too young to have lived a full life. Oh well what can you do? Maybe Ill go out, but I dont know. I'm ghost.

aw yay, I'm glad!

it wouldn't be molestation if I was completely willing blush seriously though, I want to take a trip to Asheville before my classes start. If I can, will you show me around? I haven't been there since I visited my sister a few years ago... except when I went to Biltmore, but I didn't get to go around the city or anything.

Haha, thanks!

Yes, that's pretty much exactly how I think of Amsterdam. Well put.

What did you do for your b-day?
