"Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd!
He served a dark and a hungry God!
To seek revenge may lead to Hell,
but everyone does it, if seldom as well
as Sweeney Todd,
the demon barber of Fleet Street!"
So I got a part in this musical, Sweeney Todd. Granted it's a part in the chorus but, it's still pretty amazing considering the fact that I don't usually do musicals, I actually loathe most of them, and I don't sing particularly well.
This musical is different though. First of all it's by probably the best modern composer living, Stephen Sondheim, and probably his best musical, second it's a dark story about a wronged barber who returns to London to seek revenge on an evil judge who falsely imprisoned him and tried to seduce his wife. He hooks up with this meat pie baker and sets up a barber shop above the bakery. Sweeney kills the customers and Mrs. Lovett bakes them into her meat pies, which become the rage of London. It's a pretty sinister story.
I'm excited about it, but am wondering if I got in over my head. I'm really not a musical type of person. It should be fun though.

Congrats! You must be able to sing alright if you are in a musical!
