Some people can pick sports winners, others can pick stocks, and I sure there are others who can pick Nobel Prize winners.
I, however, enjoy picking Oscar winners.
Here are my predictions about who will win and who I'd like to see win at the 78th Oscars:

Performance by an actor in a leading role:
Who I think will win - Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Capote"
Who I'd like to see win - Terrence Howard in "Hustle & Flow"

Performance by an actor in a supporting role:
Who I think will win and who I'd like to see win - Paul Giamatti in "Cinderella Man"

Performance by an actress in a leading role:
(This on is a hard one)
Who I think will win and who I'd like to see win - Felicity Huffman in "Transamerica"
Although Reese Witherspoon is a close second.

Performance by an actress in a supporting role:
(Another hard one, all these women did a fantastic job.) Who I think will win - Catherine Keener in "Capote"
Who I'd like to see win - Amy Adams in "Junebug"
of course any of them would be great.

Best animated feature film of the year:
Who I think and who I'd like to see win - "Howl's Moving Castle" Hayao Miyazaki

Achievement in art direction:
Who I think will win - "Good Night, and Good Luck."
Art Direction: Jim Bissell
Set Decoration: Jan Pascale

Achievement in cinematography:
Who I think will win - "Brokeback Mountain" Rodrigo Prieto

Achievement in costume design:
Who i think will win - "Mrs. Henderson Presents" Sandy Powell
Who I'd like to see win - "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" Gabriella Pescucci

Achievement in directing:
Who I think will win - "Brokeback Mountain" Ang Lee
Who I'd like to see win - "Good Night, and Good Luck." George Clooney

Best documentary feature:
What I think and what I'd like to see win - "March of the Penguins" Luc Jacquet and Yves Darondeau A Bonne Pioche Production
Although "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" and "Murderball" were also both very good.

Best documentary short subject:
(I really don't know anything about this category.)
I'm going with - "God Sleeps in Rwanda" Kimberlee Acquaro and Stacy Sherman

Achievement in film editing:
Who I think will win - "Crash" Hughes Winborne
Who I'd like to see win - "The Constant Gardener" Claire Simpson

Best foreign language film of the year:
(Another one I know nothing about)
I'm going with - "Paradise Now" Palestine

Achievement in makeup:
Who I think will win - "Cinderella Man" David Leroy Anderson and Lance Anderson

Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original score):
Who I think will win - "Brokeback Mountain" Gustavo Santaolalla
It's a gamble going against John Williams though.

Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original song):
Who I think will win - "Travelin' Thru" from "Transamerica" Music and Lyric by Dolly Parton
Who I'd like to see win - "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" from "Hustle & Flow" Music and Lyric by Jordan Houston, Cedric Coleman and Paul Beauregard
This movie and song single-handedly made me appreciate "Crunk" rap.

Best motion picture of the year:
Who I think will win - "Brokeback Mountain" Diana Ossana and James Schamus, Producers
Who I'd like to see win - "Munich" Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg and Barry Mendel, Producers
Although as long as it's not "Crash" I didn't really think that was a great movie.

Best animated short film :
Who I think will win - "One Man Band" Andrew Jimenez and Mark Andrews A Pixar Animation Studios Production
(The only one I've seen)

Best live action short film:
(Another one I have no clue about)
I'm going with - "Six Shooter" Martin McDonagh

Achievement in sound editing:
Who I think will win - "King Kong" Mike Hopkins and Ethan Van der Ryn

Achievement in sound mixing:
Who I think will win - "Walk the Line" Paul Massey, D.M. Hemphill and Peter F. Kurland

Achievement in visual effects:
Who I think will win - "King Kong" Joe Letteri, Brian Van't Hul, Christian Rivers and Richard Taylor

Adapted screenplay:
Who I think will win - Brokeback Mountain" Screenplay by Larry McMurtry & Diana Ossana
Who I'd like to see win - "Munich" Screenplay by Tony Kushner and Eric Roth

Original screenplay:
Who I think will win - "Crash" Screenplay by Paul Haggis & Bobby Moresco Story by Paul Haggis
Who I'd like to see win - "The Squid and the Whale" Written by Noah Baumbach

Unfortunately I won't be able to see all the Oscars tomorrow night because I have to be at a dress rehearsal for a show I'm designing lights for. I hope I don't miss anything good.

""Good night and good luck", what George Clooney says at the end of all his dates."-Jon Stewart...pretty fucking funny line...suprised Clooney beat Giamatti out for best supporting from what clips I have seen of the films

Sad to say, "Squid and the Whale" and "Murderball" were the only films out of those that I have seen all year...I have not heard all that much about Crash but was looking forward to checking it and many more of those out.

i promise i will make it up there one of these days...thanks for the invite and bring yourself on down here anytime
