The forecasters were talking snow for a week. They said this huge troth of low pressure coming off the Gulf of Mexico would plow into this artic cold front moving in from Canada and bury us in fluffy whiteness. It was supposed to snow From Midnight Friday until late afternoon Sunday. I actually had my hopes up, sure they were wrong before, but this storm seemed certain. Friday night I went to the The Orange Peel to see this band The Monsters of Japan play. Great tongue-in-cheek metal in the vein of Iron Maiden with quite a stage show. By the time the show was over the snow had started. A pretty good sign I thought. I went and had a drink at Broadways, and watched the snow fall. By the time I get home the ground had a nice covering of snow. I went in and made sure I had enough supplies to last me a few days: milk, bread, eggs, beer. I hit the bed anticipating all the fun I was going to have in the huge snowfall that was bound to blanket our area.
I wake up the Saturday morning and run to the window ecstatic to see that winter wonderland that awaited me. I pull open the shades and there was NOTHING. Turns out sometime overnight all the precipitation had turned to rain. Boring rain. I was so bummed.
However, it did snow enough to make everything resemble a large frosted mini-wheat, as LittleFierceOne and TheFox can attest to, for I wandered around Asheville with them Sunday looking for an open restaurant as the a light snow frosted our heads. We finally ended up at Barley's where we had a lovely dinner, before they trotted off to the Aimee Mann show.
It also snowed enough to close the Blue Ridge Parkway which I attempted to take them on for a nice scenic drive.
Stupid snow.
Nyssa said I can have some of their snow, but I don't know how I'll get it back from Philly. My trunk isn't that big.
