Life is one thousand one way streets all leading to the same destination, and we have no map, no idea how long the drive is, and no idea what time we'll arrive. All we can do is choose what route, and what speed we take to get there.

Thanks SO much for your comment on my Haiku set! I'm so happy that you like this set...I worried about the simplicity of it. But, sometimes, like a Haiku, simple is best. smile

I guess I got too excited!

Happy Earth Day! Let's get the earth trashed!

I kid.

It's a little known fact, but the original Earth Day, was originally celebrated on April 20th but the had to change it because the hippies kept getting confused about which holiday they were celebrating. "Hey man. Are we supposed to plant a tree, or smoke a tree today?" True story.

It seems like it's been...

I wish Father Time and Mother Nature would get back together, because I'm tired of this crazy weather.

Hey, it was great to see you the other night! It's a shame we didn't get to talk much due to our sudden company, but come to Raleigh sometime and we'll go get a beer!

It's been two weeks since my father passed away. One thing I forgot to mention in my last post was how strange the weather was on the day he died. It was sunny and warm in the morning, then that afternoon a cold front passed through bringing colder temperatures, stormy weather and even a little thunder. It was really a big change. I like to...

It's amazing, actually, how much remember. In the beginning, the odd thing was wanting to call Mom and knowing I couldn't. We didn't talk much (we'd go weeks without contact), but there were times when something would happen and I'd reflexively think, "Hey, I should call Mom!" only to remember that she was gone. I often remember things we did, things she said, or I'll imagine how she would react to something current. You *know* you'll never forget him, but it's amazing how much you'll remember about him.

While Mom's death was rather sudden, I think I reacted in much the same way as you. I was sad, certainly, but people were confused when I didn't bawl my eyes out when she was mentioned. People are still uncomfortable, a year and a half later, when I can talk about her and not get upset. I just chalk it up to everyone being different, and thank them for being there. After a while it gets better and less awkward.

And if you do need anything, do let me know. Sounds like you had a lovely service for him. I'm glad so many people were there to support you and see him off.

Hey, do you wanna go to Ratatat tomorrow night at the Peel? If you let me crash at your place the ticket's on me. I miss hanging out!

He hated the thought that people were missing out on things because of him. He was ready, and it was time. I like to think it was quick. I like to think it was simple, precise, and graceful, more graceful than anything he did in his life. He liked simplicity. He liked precision. He liked keeping to himself, and not rocking the boat. I think...

QUEEN GERTRUDE
Good Hamlet, cast thy nighted colour off,
And let thine eye look like a friend on Denmark.
Do not for ever with thy vailed lids
Seek for thy noble father in the dust:
Thou know'st 'tis common; all that lives must die,
Passing through nature to eternity.

HAMLET
Ay, madam, it is common.

QUEEN GERTRUDE
If it be,
Why seems it so particular...

An associate of a friend of mine referred to me as the boy who never smiles. Although it seems like a rather mean thing to say, in actuality it is a pretty astute observance.

Titus closed last Sunday. I've never had a more plague-ridden show. It seemed like everyday there was a new catastrophe. In addition to the aforementioned problems: the main character badly hurting...

Well I survived the first week. It was stressful though. Our first real rehearsal with lights and sound was last Wednesday in front of an audience. In addition the actor playing Titus hurt his knee really bad at rehearsal on Monday. The doctors said he should stay off it. Thank goodness he didn't pay them any heed. He soldiered on, and gave a fine performance...

If I can survive these next two weeks it will be amazing. Titus is kicking my ass. It opens tomorrow, and I don't really want to fix what's wrong with it. I'm too tired. We'll just have too see where it goes.
sadista:
Did you get snowed in up there?
Hope Titus is going well, that's one I would love to see live.
You should trek down from the mountain to come to our party on the 21st. smile

I'm in the middle of directing Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus. It opens in close to a week. I thought I'd share my director's notes:

Warning! If you expect to see a nice play filled with courtly love, or tales of nobility and uprightness, you will be disappointed. In fact if youre any way uncomfortable with violence, depravity, or lewdness, it might be a good idea...

So, a Neutron walks into a bar. He sits down at the bar. The bartender asks what would he like. The Neutron says, "I don't know, how much is a beer?" The bartender says, "For you, no charge."
