I, was a Boyscout. For some reason, that has popped into my head a lot lately.
My therapist told me I had a traumatic childhood. It seemed to me that life was just shitty for everyone. Nope. Some people actually have a nice life. Unfortunately, not anyone in my family.
Boyscouts was SO IMPORTANT to me. First place were it fealt like a loving family for me.
A few years back, my Mom was talking to me on the phone. She mentioned all the ruff campouts and survival training I did in Boyscouts. The memories of those trials helped me get through the difficulties of the time.
"Be Prepared" has saved my ass a few times. Other people asses too.
Like this one time. The superbowl was in town. My pals and I were walking past a restaurant. One with tables out on the sidewalk behind a low iron fence. And these chicks had gotten to their table before they realized the beer bottle had not been opened. Well, I had my swiss army knife. With bottle opener.
That "good turn" got me a kiss on the cheek.
