Desmond T. Doss
During WWII Dessmond Doss was a Medic in the US Army. He was a conscientious objectors.
Many of his superior officers tried to have him kicked out of the Army. They didn't want a soldier that wouldn't carry a gun. They questioned his courage.
One of these officers ran in the face of the enemy on Guam. Anothers life was saved by Doss on Okinawa. This officer had been hit by an artillery shell.
The days before and after that event was what lead to Doss being awarded the medal of honor. He ignored enemy fire while saving a huge number of his comrades.
Eventually, Doss was hit by a grenade. While being carried to the rear on a stretcher, he stopped the stretcher barrers. He had seen a man wounded worse than him. Told the stretcher barrers or pick up the other guy. Rolled off of the stretcher and crawled the 300 yards back to the Aid Station.
In reference to bailing out on the stretcher, one of his freinds, one of the stretcher barrers said "Who does that?'.
Who does that? The guy who has the balls to walk into combat without a gun. Dessmond T. Doss.

I have just seen the above story on tv. It touched me. I have never been in the military. But I really appreciate them. And the courage they have.
September 11th changed my view of the world. Including my view of the military. The military had been an insurance policy to me. Just in case we needed them. Well, 9/11/2001 was that day, in my life. The ships weren't steaming towards foreign lands. They headed to New York harbor.
Many members of SG are or were in the military. A few on my friends list. Even, a few SG's themselves.
Thank you.

When was that documentary on (if it was on t.v.), I'd like to see that myself.
I didn't know that you had posted me in the dead girls thread, but I'm pretty happy that you did
