I've spent the past couple of days going to various shows around New York and I've pretty much exhausted myself doing it. I was so tired last night that I decided not to attend the iForward, Russia! show!!! I know how lame is that. But between work and the other shows I've seen this week I just did not have my energy with me so I went home and watched the Edmonton Oilers keeps the Stanley Cup Finals going with a 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Anyway, on Monday I got to see Beirut for the first time. If you've been following my blog (what do you mean you haven't!!!) I've been all over Beirut for quite some time. So, I was prepared for a live let down, especially after hearing about their woes at their first show. But, no they were freaking awesome. Zach Condon (lead singer, basically the whole band on the record) is one talented dude and seeing a band like that in such an intimate setting (only like 125 people fit in Other Music) is an experience unlike any other. I'm going to see them again Saturday at another in-store and then on Tuesday at their first ever headlining show at Northsix!!!

Tuesday I managed to go to two different shows. I started off at the free Eels show just to see the opening band Smoosh. Smoosh is two 14-year old girls that play a really good brand of indie-pop. The lead singer has a wonderful voice and somehow the meshing of just keyboards and drums really works out for them. Then I headed up to Knittig Factory to see The Boy Least Likely To for the second time this year. The first time I saw them the sound was awful at the venue and it quickly became my least favorite show of the year and it still is. Lucky for me I gave the band a second chance and they did not disappoint. They played for a little more than an hour covering most of their current album, throwing in a B-side from one of their singles, one new songs, and a cover of George Michael's "Faith" which seems to be everywhere on the interweb these days. It was a great show, made even better by their excellent and actually funny between song banter.
