Hey everyone. thanks for all the suggestions about my train tickets. after going to the parcel delivery place, phoning royal mail a bunch and phoning the train people i did not end up with my ticket and had to buy a new one. i got the tracking number and eventually determined that they were on their way back to the issue office, but they weren't there yet so they couldn't just reissue the ticket. i thought that was a bit rediculous. what was i going to do, drive half way to scotland, miraculously find and highjack the mail truck so that i could have an extra ticket? seriously a stupid policy in my humble opinion. but apparently if we keep bugging them they'll refund us the money when they get the tickets back. so i'll only be out 30 whatever

anyway, i very promptly caught a nasty little cold (i fell asleep on the train and woke up feeling like i was coming down with something frown ) so i don't feel like i'm being as useful as i should be considering the only reason i'm here a week early is to help out. i'm walking the dogs though and helping out a little around the house and business where i can. we've had people from iceland staying with us for the past few days as well, so my mother hasn't had all that much for me to do while she played hostess. apparently we get to start inventory tomorrow. exciting stuff.

so yeah, no adventures to report here. i read a really good book though. 'A Prayer for Owen Meany'. by the guy who wrote 'Ciderhouse Rules'. can't remember his name. the book is upstairs and i'm lazy. now my mother's given me another book to read, 'if nobody speaks of remarkable things' by jon mcgregor. she didn't think much of it, my step-dad got halfway through and couldn't be bothered to finish it and my step-sister thinks it may have been responcible for her dropping out of her book club. i'm not expecting much. anyone ever read it?

Bummer about the tickets. Keep hassling British Rail, a strongly worded letter can work wonders - I know from experience! wink

Btw A Prayer for Owen Meany is by John Irving although I'm afraid I haven't read it. Just finished Harry Potter #6 (a bit of an ordeal) and have Children of Hurin by Tolkien and Black Man by Richard Morgan and UnLunDun by China Meiville all waiting next... tongue
