Read the Declaration of Independence. Read it aloud. Let the words sink in. If you want to understand Americans, it is in there.
Every American is born a rebel. Our culture is steeped in rebellion. Few cultures would celebrate a congenital criminal who killed several men. Billy the Kid is a hero.
The US has never had a king. That is the root of American Exceptionalism. Not better, just different. Many countries have few guns and lots of health care. The US has lots of guns and little health care. For my mind, it is a wash. If you had a king, back in the day, his word was law. there was nothing yo could do except trust the government. Rebels do not trust the government with out fire arms or health care.
To paraphrase one of the greatest of all rebels "Government is not the solution. It is the problem."
We are on a farm in Virginia. We celebrate th birth of our country by blowing up a small part of it. We are sleeping in a tent. Aisha gave me a wonderful hand job this morning.
