FIFA does not recognize this tournament, though the new FIFA president was there. It is engineered for the US to face Mexico in the final, but Mexico did not come through. I have no doubt that the US B+ would beat Mexico's B side, however. Gallant effort by the Jamaicans, putting the game in doubt, which I did not think would happen, especially after Jamaica's impressive goaltender had to go early in the first half.
The US dominated the game, created many chances, and finished twice. It was a fair result.
A Gold Cup might be the only thing our soccer fans will be able to celebrate. I predict three and out in Russia. So I will celebrate this Gold Cup for a long time.
