FC Dallas lost the MLS Cup final last night to Colorado last night, after extra time. The winning goal was an own goal by Dallas defender George John is the second period of extra time.
I suspected this might happen. All Dallas fans are used to busted dreams.
Colorado packed it in, preventing FCD from running, where they are dangerous.
Next, it was very cold. Colorado is far more used to this than Dallas. When it us cold, it is cold for both teams. It is often colder in Denver than in North Texas.
Dallas coach Dumbass, I mean, Schellas Hyndman, has never won the big one. At SMU, the major soccer program in Texas, went to the final four twice in twenty four years. He nver won the NCAA championship. Texas is a soccer hot bed, from the classic league in the north to the hispanic leagues in the south. He could never do it. A friend of mine was a top recurit. His brother had gone to SMU, and helped Schellas recruit him. He want to TCU. Last year, FCD rose from the doldrums of the MLS riding hot scorer Jeff Cunningham and goalkeeper Dario Sala, on a similar hot streak. All they needed was a win in Seattle to make it to the playoffs. Seattle won.
Time after time, Hyndman has proven he cannot win the big one.

Second, a lot of those players who contributed so much are on loan. Even MLS MVP David Ferreira has a hold on him by Club Athletico in Brazil. Like most teams in Brazil, they are in the business of selling players. There are plenty of scouts in the stands. Say Everton comes a calling. They can pay more than FCD can. Or the teams that have loaned players to FCD want them back. "Thanks for your help! Hes ready for the first team now, thanks to FC Dallas!" I am not saying this will happen, but it very will might. Add in two expansion teams drafting players. Hyndman will keep his favorites, whether or not they are the most talented.
Third, goaltender Kevin Hartman played out of his skin this year. It is called a "career year." He will never be as good as he was this season. He will return to form, an above average keeper. MLS rules mandate a goalkeeper be left exposed. So, the Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps will have a chance at the experienced Argentine Sala. Or so one might think. If he is drafted away from Dallas, I expect he will retire and return to Argentina. After a week, we will see his smiling face as he returns to Argentina, and sings with Racing Club or whatever club wants him. FCD will have to draft a rookie, find another cast off, or settle to the MLS goalkeeper pool.
Fourth, Colorado has provided the template to beat FC Dallas. I find it hard to believe that other teams will miss that.
