Should Notre Dame fire Mike Brey?
He was the Big East Coach of the Year. He guided the Irish into the tournament. Where they lost to a lower seeded team in the first round. They were down by 20 points in the second half, came back, retook the league, and then totally collapsed. The three previous years, ND has not made the NCAAs at all.
Brey should be fired. No question. Are there better coaches out there? Sure. Could Notre Dame get them? Yes. Will they? Probably not. If they did, would they make Notre Dame better? Not really. The fact is that Notre Dame cannot recruit in basketball. Look at powerhouse Texas. Players there are on a one year plan. Play your one year of college, and the go to the NBA draft. Notre Dame would not do that. So, Notre Dame has to pick from a very small pool, and schools like Duke have already dragged their nets through. There are some quality players there, but not the impact players who will make a difference.
Coach Knight is correct. The NBA has to back off. The NBA, once the most popular sport in America, has lost viewers in droves. Maybe because of the "thug" image. These guys are pampered in high school, and then in college. They do not attend class because they do not need to, and are not even encouraged to. This needs to stop, and the NBA should know this. No high school kids in the draft. Let them declare hardship in their junior year in college, if such a hardship does exist. Until then, stay in school and get an education. If you learn nothing else, learn how to behave.

So, how far did you pick ND going this year? I know most thought that was the shoe-in upset pick.
