Now that was some fun stuff.

I do have a few (Ok, a laundry list) of complaints about some organizational problems they had. BUT, I had a ton of fun, and I can see this con has HUGE potential. And for being their first con, problems they had can be understood.

Thursday they had the hotpiratebabes.com competition and afterparty, which, of course, I could not go to.

Friday by time I got to NO it was too late, you had to show up ahead of time to get to the movie. We ended up going and getting dinner instead, then hit a few bars.

Saturday we went and had a blast. I had a few goals, get pirate boots, get pirate pants, and get a pirate hat. Ok, so I only got the pants part accomplished. I tried to get some boots but the person selling them was the most disorganized person I'd ever seen attemping to run a booth. Still, she had some awesome boots. Expensive, but I'm willing to pay for quality, and they are quality. Not only didn't she have any boots at all in my size they all had calfs too narrow for mine, now my calfs are above-average size I guess but they are not freakishly huge or anything. But anyway, no boots my size and none that would fit my calfs (Calves? I'm not sure when refering to the leg.)

Unfortunately, the venue was just plain too damn small. They had 1 room where they held basically every event, and it could hold maybe 20 people, 30 people if you squeezed (And we did.) That's fine if there is other stuff going on, but there wasn't. So we had to sit out the first two talks we really wanetd to go to, and had to get there way early for the others.

The presenters did well, and the dealers rooms were great, although weird key things were missing. Like Belts. I bought some nice pants, but no one was selling any damn belts. Actually, I take that back, the boot lady was selling some, I had my choice between the style I wanted but lime green, or black and piratey but literally about a foot wide. It was almost comically oversized.

Of course, the main event was saturday night, and it was great. We had like 200-300 pirates marching around the Quarter. We ended up at a bar and drank ourselves silly. It was great just totally filling out almost a whole block of Burbon with pirates and wenches and watching the normal people try to push through.

That was the other thing, nearly everyone there dressed up. Most cons, maybe a quarter, maybe half of everyone dresses up. This time? Nearly everyone. And there were tons of people from California there, too.

I'm excited about next year already. I've decided I am gonna help. We got to talk to a lot of the organizers and they told us we're hired. I'm going to volunteer for tech ops. The presenters had to bring their own equipment save a projector, there were no microphones, there were no lights, there were no even walkie-talkies. Hopefully I can help with some of that stuff.

Well, I need sleep.
