so i made me a little discovery today
in my piece of korean automotive technology.
see my as of yet unnamed muscle go-cart
has a tape player.
now, i am indeed sold on this digital age.
i got me mp3s
and a digital camera
and a digital voice recorders
and a stack of blank cds just waiting for me to burn on.

but the other day, this kid
this dirty, dreadlocked, wonderful little gutterpunk kid
hes listenin to a tapedeck,
which i know cause i had to confiscate the thing
and so i ask him why tapes?
i figured its a dead tech to anyone under 25 at least
and he comes back all
well, this forces me to listen to the whole album, cause i cant skip songs
so i get to hear it as it was meant to be listened to, and i know all the songs and
get a real feelin as to what the band is about.
which was such a great answer that i promised him my old reagan youth tape.

and so today. today (which is eternity, cause eternity dont start when yer dead)
i pull out the old case, and throw it in the go-cart.
and i listened to the best of my analog collection from my twenty somethings.
and damn it if the little fucker wasnt right on.
i listened to albums today.
and the imperfections of hiss.
damn i miss sides.

and i realized tonight, that it takes some patience,
this listening thing.
and that maybe in our digital age of skip,
and forward and rainbow frisbee quality, and missing sides
we have lost something.

so break out the lps.
the reels of magnetic tape.
embrace imperfection.
listen to a side.

I like that. I don't have a DVD collection. The idea of advancing whole scenes freaks me out. There a great site you should scope out Tinymixtapes.com

Reading Children of the Matrix. Great stuff.
