so i'm still an unemployed loon, but things are kinda picking up on the work front. i do freelance video work for the public access tv around here (maybe 8hrs a week?) and i just got hired to work the door at cactus club on show nights. i worked the ted leo & the pharmacists show last night and it was pretty cool. the cactus is a great group of people, & i'm happy to be the newest member of the cactus family. but still, with a few shows a week that really isn't that much $$$. so i'm looking for some sort of service-industry/low-responsibility part time day job to tide me over so i can continue my wild drinking habits without that voice in my head that says, "dude, you are so going to be homeless in three months"

this weekend i am auditioning for two bands. the first (we'll leave names out to protect the bands here) i am trying out as frontman. i think i'd be a good frontman (and anyone who's seen me at karaoke will vouch for me there). then i try out for another band as a drummer later in the weekend. i'm a little out of shape due to people's dislike of drum-pounding in the neighborhood, but both bands gave me mp3's and i'm bludgeoning the material into my brain. it could go either way, all i know is i've been musically stagnant for awhile and i need to get back into it before i'm over 30 and written off by all the other "scenesters".

i've been meeting tons of girls at cactus too. one of them is the lucky recipient of a joey crush. we laugh our asses of when 90210 is on, and i convince her to do shots. she plays hard to get on the shots, though (i.e. - i really shouldn't........eh, what the hell.....ok). i'm pretty sure she's got a guy, but i've overheard her & her girlfriends talking aabout it being time to forget about so & so. i would turn on my charm, but hell, i'm always more charming if i don't try, so i just won't try.
