i had fun at the liz phair show last night, even though our free tickets weren't quite free. we had to buy two drink tickets ($18!!) which was the same as the face value on the regular tickets. i was a huge dork and sang along to all my favorites (6 foot one, may queen, help me mary, & polyester bride were highlights of the set) she closed the show with a pretty weak version of fuck & run. but all & all i'd say it was a good show. i even bought a t-shirt!

i went with kelly, and we met up with jen & jen at the show. it's nice, because me & the jen's had a falling out a couple months ago, and now it seems that things are finally getting back to normal with us.

after the show we buzzed by the landmark for some $2 booze, where i got to see the lovely Monet and even bought her a fuzzy navel! all told i bought $20 worth of drinks for my friends (now one of these nights maybe old joey will drink for free?) then the drama of kelly's less than stable love life took over & dominated the rest of the night. she ended it with jesse - for good, apparently. i saw them talking and her face did not look like a happy kelly face. and then jesse's shoulders hunched over and he walked away on the verge of tears. he came up to me and told me that it was over (lip-quivering as he spoke), and that i need to tell kelly that his "love for her was real" and that i should "take care of her for him" (yeah right jesse, you cheated on her and admitted it to her face! plus, she can take care of herself). i gave him a hug and said to keep his chin up. he's in a band, so he'll just move on to the next meaningless piece of ass.

it was kind of a deflating ending to what had been a great day. i had to drive home the emotionally-spent kelly, and i could swear i saw tears in the corner of her eye. when someone close to me feels bad, i feel bad too. so my night ended on a sour note........
