first of all i gotta say that the rooftop bash was a rollicking good time. BKfreak knows how to throw a fucking bash, that's for sure (aww yeah, Bushwick represent!) and a hearty muchas gracias to him. i met a lot of SG peeps, all of them the friendliest motherfuckers you could spend a 4th of july with. (& with me, motherfucker is a term of signifigantly high praise) i showed up pretty early (3pmish) and it was hot and bright. i know at least one person who went home with a sunburn.
i took off shortly after 2am, knowing it would be an hour ride on the trains back to harlem. to fuck things up even worse, my stop was shut down for repairs and i had to take the BD train to 125th and walk an additional 4 or 5 avenue blocks through a pretty intimidating part of town. drunk and barely knowing my way around the city. i made it back unscathed and slept till noon thirty.
today, i set my sights for a day of highbrow entertainment in the city. i went to the guggenheim museum to see that picasso to pollock exhibit, but the place was packed to the gills and $15 just to get in so i said "fuck it" and ended up going to the design museum just up the street, which only managed to be moderately interesting. after like 45 minutes in the museum, i had seen every exhibit and decided to hoof it to the lower east side. great idea, that's like 90 blocks! i did it, but by the time i got down there my feet were aching, and i hit a shoe store for some new pumas (on sale even) and hopped the train back to harlem.
it is hot as fuck here, and i was dehydrated and exhausted from all the walking, so i chilled out in my underwear (new pair today, it's only right) and drank 4 bottles of arizona green tea and lotioned up the new tat. after a couple hours, the itch to hit the city was back, and i set out in my new pumas in search of libations, which i found at a place on 107th & Amsterdam that was slingin' up $1.50 cans of PBR (the hometown shit!)
i will be attending the "bases-ball' game up at yankee stadium tomorrow. ryan's gonna cruise back into town and we'll get a chance to hit the town together tomorrow night. we gotta be in kingston, rhode island monday night, we do a video shoot on tuesday, and we should be back home thursday night at the latest. this trip has been amazing, but i think i'm ready to spend a few nights at home in my own bed.
