Thank you everyone.
The frusterating part is that he really loves his kids and they love to be with him.
I talked to my 14 year old this morning about me talking to his dad about stopping drinking. I told him I know that he would never put them at risk if he didn't have a problem and that the problem is getting out of hand.
I guess I'm going to have to tell the ex that he can't see the kids until he really gets help.
This is really going to suck for the kids.
They love him so much.
I just have to protect them.
Two times is two to many.
The ex and my history is so intense too.
I am really worried that this will bring back the worst of it.
The part that makes me submissive.
He yells and screams and I cower. But really it seems that everytime I really try to stand up I just get knocked down.
We were actually at a point of being able to actually coparent. We were at a point that I wasn't scared anymore.
ugh
I actually had invited him to spend Thanksgiving with all of us.
I'm so stupid. Really!!

The bottom line is always what is best for the kids, and it sucks, but you need to issue him an ultimatum.

This is the BEST THING you could do for your kids. Naturally it will be hard for them; however, as someone who had a father who did have a drinking problem, I am thankful to this day for my mom standing up to my dad and giving him ultimatum, and am grateful that my father chose my brother, mother and I over the bottle. It's not easy, but really you are going to be helping your children and you ex by telling him he needs to get his shit together.
