OK so I have some new political thoughts.
Welcome to the USA. We eat, drink and party. We also get very sick due to the lifestyles that we lead. We die of cancer, heart disease, liver disease, etc... We get alzheimers. You name it we got it. We also have the expectation that we can live these crazy and unhealthy life styles and live forever.
WE SEEK THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH!!!!
We are a culture of people looking for the quick fix.
Now the scientist want to explore a controversal research. Yes it has been around for awhile. Have you ever really thought about stem cell research?
Yes of coarse there are different types of stem cells and different ways to get them. Today I am just thinking about embrionic stem cells at the moment.
Embryonic stem cells, as their name suggests, are derived from embryos. Specifically, embryonic stem cells are derived from embryos that develop from eggs that have been fertilized in vitro_in an in vitro fertilization clinic_and then donated for research purposes with informed consent of the donors. They are not derived from eggs fertilized in a woman's body. The embryos from which human embryonic stem cells are derived are typically four or five days old and are a hollow microscopic ball of cells called the blastocyst. The blastocyst includes three structures: the trophoblast, which is the layer of cells that surrounds the blastocyst; the blastocoel, which is the hollow cavity inside the blastocyst; and the inner cell mass, which is a group of approximately 30 cells at one end of the blastocoel.

Supports federal funding of embryonic stem cell research
Q: Would you expand federal funding of embryonic stem cell research?
A: I believe that we need to fund this. This is a tough issue for those of us in the pro-life community. I would remind you that these stem cells are either going to be discarded or perpetually frozen. We need to do what we can to relieve human suffering. It's a tough issue. I support federal funding.

Stem cells hold promise to cure 70 major diseases
Barack Obama believes we owe it to the American public to explore the potential of stem cells to treat the millions of people suffering from debilitating and life threatening diseases. Stem cells hold the promise of treatments and cures for more than 70 major diseases and conditions such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, spinal cord injuries, and diabetes. As many as 100 million Americans may benefit from embryonic stem cell research. As president, Obama would:
Promote Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Support Medical Advancement and Innovation
Expand the Number of Stem Cell Lines Available for Research
Ensure Ethical Standards
Obama introduced legislation in the Illinois Senate to ensure that only those embryos that would otherwise be discarded could be used and that donors would have to provide written consent for the use of the embryos.

Do you think that embrionic stem cell is a good thing? I think that it is a slippery slope. I don't trust!!!!
Do you think that embryo=life? Well you all know what I think. I can remember when I was pregnant I was very fond of my little embryo. I know that people I work with are fond of their little embryos. I know that it's a slippery slope. I think that science can do a lot of good. I also think that science has done some of the greatest harm. I guess it just depends on where you are on the spectrum of morality. Nothing fucked up meant by that. I mean really we all have different morality and belief.
Do you think that the way you live can affect your health? I DO!!
Do you think that chemicals placed on our foods cause cancer? I DO!!!
Do you think that the health of our country is embarassing? I DO!!! I am happy to be an American. I am just saddened by the way we take care of ourselves. I am blessed with more meals a day than many in the world have in a week. Have you thought about Haiti today. OH GOD help them.
Is your health embarassing? It is. I got really healthy a couple years ago. I have been working so hard for the last 2 years I let it all slip. When I move and get the other job going full time I am committing to the health of myself and my family.
What could you do to be healthier today? I could drink a big glass of good clean water!!!! I am going to go do that now.
How old do you think you will live to be? Most in my family live to be 70ish. I am going to strive for 80+. I am a bit of an overahiever.
Who will save your life? I will save my own life. I hope that I don't have to ever depend on massive meds. I currently feel I am going to make the changes I need to over the next year and my health will hold for many years. I'll pray about that too.
So cheers to living old on your own good will.
Peace.

Do you think that embryo=life? Depends how you define life. It's alive. It has the potential to become a human being. But I do not buy into the rhetoric that once an egg becomes fertilized that the "destruction" of that embryo becomes murder. I find that ridiculous. I respect that there are varying opinions on this, however. But it's been my observation that most objections are based on either ignorance or religious dogma, not on science.
Do you think that the way you live can affect your health? I can't believe anyone would believe otherwise. You eat too much, you get fat. Pretty simple. I'm living proof.
Do you think that chemicals placed on our foods cause cancer? Possibly. But not intentionally.
Do you think that the health of our country is embarassing? Yes, but I'm a hypocrite.
Is your health embarassing? No. I'm overweight, but I'm not huge. I have the ability to slim down... I just don't have the self-discipline.
What could you do to be healthier today? Stop eating this delicious cinnamon bun. Mmmm...
