My week in a nutshell. I'm a bit tired.
6/7/08 32 hour labor.. Baby Girl born in the bathroom on my lovely amish wooden birth stool. Mama never pushed. She let her body to all the work. It was amazing. Baby was born to Gypsy music. She then crawled up to the breast and started nursing all on her own. 6 lbs. 4.5 oz.
6/8/08 I was called a 5:30 am to help another midwife with a birth.
At 7:30 am I was called away for another baby. I called my assistant to meet me at the birth center right away. This baby was born into mama's pajama pants leg in the parking lot at Dairy Queen. I met her at the birth center. When I arrived she was nursing the baby in a nice heated truck. The baby's gramps tied off the cord with his shoe lace. The truck seat was covered in blood. When Gramps was asked if he was OK he said um.... no and smiled. My assistand arrived. She couldn't find her car keys, so..... she stole a bike. hahaha.. Baby Boy 7lbs 4 oz. Bike returned later with a 6 pack of beer.
Returned to other birth.
Mama had to work really hard to get the baby out. Baby was getting a bit stressed. So mama pushed harder. There was other stuff too. Just a day in my life. Baby was in a compound presentation. It had both hands up nex to its head. We had to help quite a bit to get it out. Baby was shocked after birth. Needed a little Oxygen. All is well. Happy big baby boy 9lbs. 9oz.

Goodmorning. My phone rang a 2:30 am. She's in labor. Ok.. Call me when you are ready. PHone rings 4:13am. She's pushing. So, off I go. My dear friend of 12 years is laboring away in the waterbirth tub. She's pushing. Baby was born a 1/2 hour after I arrived in the water with mama and daddy and big brothers looking on. I had to help just an itty bitty bit. Beautiful and healthy 9lb boy.
This is my testimonial.
TRUST BIRTH!!!!
Now I'm off to take the kids to school and head to work.
One more mama over due. Maybe tonight. Who knows.
