Alanis Morissette + Thicke + Imogen Heap = what's stuck in my head right now. Odd.

On Sunday I went to North Cambridge Cemetery for an irritating project. It ended up being pretty cool, inandof itself. Any cemetery at least a century old has got some neat tombstones. I found one with my mother's maiden name, which always makes me wonder. On my way back to Davis Square to head home I stopped at a convenience store for some water and was made very happy. The guy had this thought for the day on the counter, and it was something along the lines of there are so many minutes in a day which is so many seconds, how much of that time do you take to stop and smile about something positive? And he told me it's because he doesn't see a lot of people smiling most of the time. So of course I wore a big grin for the rest of the day, right up to the time the roommate (who'd been visiting home all weekend) came back and pissed me off within the first 5 minutes of her return merely for existing. (In case any of you are wondering, yes, I am taking steps to try and switch out of the room; I'm not just bitching.)

I also spent $90 I don't really have at the Virgin Megastore, since it's closing and I'm a music junkie. In addition to some necessary birthday presents for folks, I bought Ani DiFranco's Reprieve and, on a whim, Massive Attack's Collected, which I proceeded to listen to over and over (and over) yesterday. I kind of knew they were good, but man, they're flippin' awesome!

Right now I should be working on that cemetery assignment. I'm supposed to come up with a hypothesis about some pattern I noticed in the data, but there's nothing that interesting I can think of. "Marble stones are old" is about the extent of my thoughts thus far. And it's due Friday. *sigh*

Tonight I'm seeing Badly Drawn Boy at the Paradise. I'm very excited; I've never seen him perform before, and I've never been to the Paraidse. Yay for new experiences!

Ooh, and I had a fun time being without my student ID for the past 2 days. It broke in half Saturday night (there had been a crack for a while), and the office to replace them wasn't open until today. But now I have a pic of me with my bangs on my ID, so that's cool. And of course, I put it right back in my back pocket, so it'll have the same kind of stress put on it as before and get the same fracture in mid-December of next year. Unless I'm not here anymore. Who knows?

Isn't life such a magnificent adventure?

spending money on CDs, especially random ones that turn out to be awesome, is always wonderful. As is having Imogen Heap stuck in your head. As is going to shows. Even having something random like breaking your ID can be cool and leading to adventures. I had an adventurous weekend, but after returning to work i already feel blah.
There's no denying the wonderful adventure of life
