Then and now,

I was thinking lastnight about my childhood and I decided that comparing my interests from 20 years ago with those today, and just see what happens.

Okay this day in LEO'S history June 1st 1986

Interests: Sci-fi, Fantasy, Mythology (particularly Norse, I looked up Thor in the Encyclopedia and that was that), Knights, vampires, cartoons, guns, comics (I had about five)staying up late, sex, wrestling

favorite music: Twisted Sister, Culture Club, Abba, Sherrif, REO Speedwagon, the Beastie Boys, Weird Al Yankovic

favorite movies: Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Highlander, Animalympics, Dark Crystal, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Rocky III, Battle Star Galactica, Watership Down

favorite television shows: A-team, Family Ties, He-Man, Gi-Joe, Transformers, Ducktales, Different Strokes, Webster, Unsolved Mysteries, The New Adventures of Beans Baxter, My Two Dads, All American Wrestling

occupation: student

life goals: to be a jedi knight

Current situation: I had just failed 3rd grade and knew I would be repeating the year.

Okay this is interesting, so let me expand on this and go back ten years

Okay this day in LEO'S history June 1st 1996

Interests: Music, punk rock, anarchy, movies, vampires, cartoons, magic, partying, sex, wrestling

favorite music: Misfits, Dead Kennedys, Sound Garden, REM, Black Flag, Public Image Ltd, Rollins Band, Moby, Green Day, Rancid, Ramones, Aerosmith, Sex Pistols, Generation X, Sonic Youth, Pantera, Motorhead, Kiss, Lords of Acid, Guns N'Roses

favorite movies: Dazed and Confused, Crow, Natural Born Killers, Brain Scan, Wayne's World, Candy Man, Pump Up the Volume, Head, Demolition Man, Terminator 2

favorite television shows: I don't remember watching much tv during this period, the Real World, Animaniacs, ECW Wrestling

occupation: musician/poet/whatever meanial job I could hold down for a week at a time, and I worked everywhere

life goals: To live on the floor and get paid everynight to play

current situation: I had just graduated from highschool, I was between Nicole and Sam, the bad had just changed it's name from Pale to Sound of Noise, as well as Jessi Chasin coming in on guitar, and I just discovered heroin

Wow this is like a roots thing, it's pretty weird to see what I can remember and what I don't.

Okay today in Leo's life June 1st 2006

Interests: music, movies, cartoons, comics, sex, wrestling

favorite music: Razed In Black, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, the Damned, Fear, Bile, Hank 3, Faith No More, Zombies, and so many others

favorite movies: Hard Core Logo, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Crow, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hellraiser, Clerks, Decline of Western Civilization

favorite television shows: Real World Road Rules Challenge, Gilmore Girls, Monday Night Raw

occupation: bartender

life goals: To not be living on the street and to find something worthwhile to do till I die

current situation: I'm seven years in at the Taj Mahal, and still trying to figure it all out, enjoying the simple things in life, and going with things as they come along.

It's strange to see the ways I've changed, tastes can tell you alot, I went from having nothing, to be so spoiled that I thought I could fake the whole angst and torment thing, just so I could come full circle, and really be broke and struggling all over again. My tastes haven't really changed they're just fine tuned. I just think it's always a good thing to remember where you came from. So does anyone have an observation to make?

BTW I finally saw Twisted Sister last year and lemme tell you they were just as awesome to see live as they were on MTV twenty years ago.
