So... I got my SG name changed! I am now officially Owsley, or rather Owsley_ In honor of my new name, here are some pictures of me under the influence of the very mind expanding chemical made and popularized by my name sake, Owsley Stanley, right after this year's Bicycle Day celebration in San Francisco. If you don't know who he is, well, let me enlighten you. Owsley was a chemist who made lots of beautiful acid in the 60's, he was also the driving financial force behind the Grateful Dead, it was he who bought the tower of sound, who made it possible for the Dead to put on shows that were visual and auditory spectacles that people had never seen or heard before. He was as much of a guru in the counter culture psychedelic, mind expansion movement of the 60's as Ken Kesey or Timothy Leary (although less well known by mainstream society). It is in honor of him that I name myself, partially because owls are one of my spirit animals and I thought it was a nice nod to that, but mainly because the psychedelic movement that he played such a huge role in has shaped my mind and soul very profoundly over the years and I consider it an important part of my identity.
