Finland in two weeks and I won't be back until the end of the summer! Awesome. Preparations are going well and I'm really excited about the project we're going to be working on. We're building a sweatlodge/sauna that uses sound as the transformative element rather than smoke or steam. So far we've finished the sound piece and built an amplifier and pre-amp to play the piece through (pictured above). That's all I'll say about it. Check out some samples of other stuff we've done here: myspace.com/underthesameshadow. Also, we've been included on a Summer Solstice compilation put together by Vita Ignes : Corpus Lignum blog in celebration of their 100th post, and, the solstice. You can download it here:

We also made this thing for a proposal we're putting together here:
If you attach a Piezo disk (basically a reversed contact mic) to a taught surface, you will turn that surface into a speaker. Very cool actually, but the bass blows out really quickly as the volume increases.
I've recorded a couple of vocal tracks for Alrunes, my friends' band in Boston. If you've been keeping up, Alrunes is the band I went up there to perform with almost a year ago. It's been a really funny recording process as I'm doing it all at home. Since there's no isolation booth here in my apartment I'm playing the instrumental tracks on my iPod while recording separately with a vocal mic on my laptop. Super awkward to get used to at first, but it's really pretty amazing that even just 6 or 7 years ago you had to have access to thousands of dollars worth of equipment to get a recording of such quality. I have two more tracks to lay down, but I don't think it's going to happen before I leave. So, there's your DIY fist in the face for the day.
Bought my Sleep ticket for September and it'll likely be the first thing I do once I get back to the US! What an awesome homecoming. Saw Eyehategod recently for the second time... loved it. New Watain album is good, as is the new Blood of Kingu. Check out Castevet, cool dudes, cool music.
That's it. Hope the summer treats you well, don't act like an asshole about it.
