I'm getting eye surgery soon. If you've ever met or seen pictures of me you know that I have big dorky glasses.I had even better ones when I first left for the Marines, but now that I am out I think I need a change of pace and also I don't want to worry about glasses when I travel. So tomorrow I have a consult...

Awww, families.

Denver ain't too close to the foot zone, though (if, in fact, that's where your family is located as well--if they're on Severed Foot Island, though, then I don't blame them for worrying).

Also, thanks for picking Option C. I'm not sure that anyone has yet, and I was pretty pleased with myself when I came up with that one. tongue

On CSPAN they are discussing upgrading our passenger rail system. I'm pretty sure everyone knows how much AMTRAK and the majority of passenger rail is horrible. Really Horrible. If it were up to me, we would have high speed rail lines running between every major city within the United States. I think it would be quite economically viable and cost efficient. Also I beleive that...

America has serious transportation issues, and mainly because people have such hard-ons for their cars. Maybe the recent trend in fuel prices will force a change...

How have you been? Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope all is well.

I witnessed history last night when Barack Obama secured the democratic nomination. I don't think that I have ever seen such a rousing and magmonious speech in my entire life that can compare to Barack's last night. His poise and demeanor refelcts the type of person that we need to vote into office. I'm also glad that Hillary is finally done. I would have voted...

listening to his speech right now. great stuff.

actually getting excited about this election.

Obama/Not Hillary '08!

I don't see how he can take her as his VP. After the way she ran her primary campaign it would be like buckling in to the party establishment...and her political machine. He needs to show that he's made of tougher stuff than that. With her as VP it'd seem like the Democratic version of Bush/Cheney. and everyone would be wondering if she and Bill weren't just pulling the strings.

So, I'm totally lame, so I'm responding to you weeks late, but I generally dislike wine ratings as well. It works okay to steer you clear of a crappy wine, but the good stuff is generally so subjective that ratings and reviews are kinda useless. I really don't like Robert Parker's taste in wines, so I know if he gives something a 90 or higher, I'll usually be indifferent. However, for those who aren't total wine geeks, it's better to develop a relationship with a wine expert (merchant, sommelier, whoever) and explain your taste in wine, and let them know what winesyou've enjoyed or disliked. They can help steer you to other wines you may like, and don't be afraid to discuss budget. A true professional knows they'll build a better customer relationship by not pressuring you to spend more than you're comfortable with.

I thought of you the other day. Was taking a friend's family out to see the sights in SF and was reminiscing over our tourist day in the city. kiss
