Got back today from our camping trip on the beach in Malibu. This was the boy's first time camping and he loved it. Boogie boarding, kite flying and hot dog on the campfire cooking fun. We actually woke up to see a pod of dolphins right outside our tent not 15 yards away in the ocean. Also saw a sea lion and some pelicans. Im glad I got a chance to do this with him. Hopefully we will do more stuff like this.

The big news though was my session on Friday. The new "Spawn: Animation" movie is going to be amazing! The script and story are tight. The visuals are going to be groundbreaking (I got to look through some of the story boards during my down time in the studio). As promised here's a list of some of the folks who are also in it:

Cree Summer (we had 3 great scenes together)
Clancy Brown (I had 2 great scenes with him)
Mark Hamill (yes Luke skywalker himself. No scenes together which was a bummer for me)
Phil LaMarr (He's awesome!)
Bruce Boxleitner (No scenes with him either but he was cool to hang out with in the booth)
Kitty (She is GREAT! We had a cool scene together. She told me I was sexy and scary at the same time and that was a good thing)

There were a bunch of other folks too all of whom were really nice but who's names I will butcher beyond recognition if I try to type 'em here.

I also had a couple of really nice conversations with Todd McFarlane himself. After it was all over everyone was very complementary which made me feel great since it was my first feature film. The Animation Director was giving me the lowdown on future productions. I told him I wished them all well but since my character was dead I probably wouldn't be seeing them on those. He replied "this is a comic book... you can always come back from the dead in a comic book". That really made my day.

The best part of all, however, was I got a chance to act for a change. It has been so long I had sort of forgotten how much I love it. I have been doing voice over for about twenty years now. All of it has been commercial. Although those are often fun and the people are usually great to work with this was like getting a big glass of orange juice after twenty years of nothing but water. This was real drama, real emotion and really fun.

Finally, the director: Charlie Adler. This guy was awesome! I had heard good things about him but actually getting to work with him was a dream. He kept things moving, gave great direction, was easy to understand and still managed to make it fun. I gotta work with this guy again!

See? two days later and I'm still blissed out just thinking about it.
merrow:
Malibu is very pretty, though I've never been camping in general yet alone there. I'm glad you two had fun. smile

Also, isn't Mark Hamil also the voice of the Joker in the Batman animated series and several voices in Scooby Doo?

yes he is. He does a LOT of voice over these days. He's remarkably versatile.
