I just wanted to share something from my Twitter acct. It is possible that no one will care, and that is ok. Just feel like sharing.
So I'm not really one for doing New Year's Resolutions, but given my journey of the past few years and the new decade, I really wanted to share some thoughts and goals.
I suppose I have always been vaguely aware of the privilege I was blessed with in life but never really understood it in those terms. I have known that women are not treated the same, and that various groups (lgbtq+, people of color, SWs, etc) have been marginalized throughout the history of Western Civilization. And even "white people" in other parts of the world have experienced this as well.
The last few years (my story will be told on the 4th) I have been slowing awakening to these concepts as more than just vague ideas.
Because if this, I want to do a "New Year, New Decade, New Worldview" of sorts. So here goes nothing for my thoughts.
I want to be a better HUMAN. I want to believe and support women. I want to meet, interact, and make friends in the LGBTQ+ community. I want to be more mindful of things that I have NEVER had to struggle with that people of color have been forced to suffer and endure. I want to meet, tip when I can, and support more SWers. I want to always remember that I do not have to agree with someone to show them the love, kindness, dignity, and respect that Jesus actually preached.
There are things in my personal lifestyle that I will never be able to reconcile with Christianity. But that simply means that I'm not perfect, that I know I'm not perfect, and that I have zero right to judge anyone. My hope is that I have chosen the correct path, that I will one day see the face of God as I understand him/her/them/it and be told "Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of thy Lord."
I understand some of you may choose a different religion, or no religion at all. I also understand some of you may think I'm bat-shit crazy for posting this, but my goal in being a better human is to show love and kindness to everyone regardless of how they treat me. You are all loved, appreciated, and I'm always here if you need an ear. Blessings to you all, happy new year, and happy new decade.
