Ok. Things have relaxed a little and I don't feel like I'm drowning anymore.

Apartment application and deposit turned in. No apparent problems.

Got back a german test, nicht so gut.

I got accepted to the Australia Study Abroad program. Which means yours truly is going to be in Australianext spring.

I have a picture of my brain. Yes, my very own brain. Its super neat. I would absolutely be jealous of me right now. I want to have it framed.
And the MRI that this brain picture came from is going to be in a video for the OMSI Brain Fair which is tomorrow. (probably going to be a video, I can't promise)
And the scan was taken for this purpose, no brain tumors or growths for me.

AND Carol Queen is coming to speak at my school this week and I am fucking stoked. Thankfully TBTN decided to bring her as the key note speaker since the Womyn's Center budget was too little to do it.
Everyone in the area must come see her. You will hate yourself if you miss it for no good reason.

Thanks for the compliment on the name. It started off as my joke DJ name, then began to invade my life. AIM, Hotmail, now this site. It's really beginning to take on a life of its own. Scary!

a few years ago, broke & in NYC, I decided that it might be slightly more interesting than starving to answer an ad for medical studies at something like the New York Institue of Psychiatric Medicine--one of those paid volunteer things where they put you up & prod you for a couple of weeks in exchange for a paycheck. after a few preliminary phone interviews I went there & (after getting off on the wrong floor & being confronted by the sound, & smell, of meat saws & little animals being tortured) I was given a rudimentary physical & an interview with an attractive psychiatrist lady. I was told that the purpose of the study was to take a series of brain scans of "healthy" individuals over a couple of weeks & compare them with brain scans of manic depressive & schizophrenic individuals.

the interview took about 20 minutes, & I thought I did pretty good, except that attractive doctor lady told me, at the conclusion, that I didn't QUITE qualify for "healthy", but that I could come back for an interview with a different doctor & might get a slot on the "manic depressive" team.

not a good week.
