Okay. I have to update about my trip. My weekend lasted till Tuesday.

After my big band rehearsal last thursday, I came home and packed. I went with the friend that I lived in Scotland with. Seems like all our trips are short last minute things, but they're always a blast.

So we left Thursday night to drive down to Vancouver. He drove to Kamloops and I drove the rest of the way. I was awake for part of it. Good thing too, it was blizzard conditions in the middle of the night. We made it in 13 hours. pretty good time for driving in the middle of winter I say.

We got to Vancouver and pulled in to his aunt's place. She lives downtown. He went for a nap, but I wasn't tired so I walked around downtown for a couple of hours. We had dinner at A Kettle Of Fish. It was really very good. I had the scallops. After that, we went to Coldplay. Fiona Apple opened up for them. It was very very good. What made my night was the lightbulb over the stage for Fix You. biggrin Oh. The guy sitting behind us was from Scotland. We had a good chat before the concert started.

After the concert we went to The Atlantic Trap and Gill. We have one of those in Edmonton too. They have great poutine. So we got drunk there and when they closed, we had another at the Two Parrots. What an odd place. We stopped for pizza on the way home as one does when one is drunk.

The next day we drove down to Seattle to go see Maynard Ferguson play at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley. What a really cool venue. This concert was for my benefit. There's certaiin things you just can't do in life. One of those is to let an opportunity like that go to waste. Seeing Maynard play live was simply amazing. His band was phenominal. I had the biggest grin on my face the whole evening. They had good food too. I had the Caesar salad and the Manicotti.

After the concert we drove back to Vancouver. I drove this time. We got lost briefly after we stopped for gas. I bought a bag of Fiery Habanero Doritos and some watermelon Trident. In trying to get back on the I5, I took a wrong turn and so we drove around for a bit. We ended up going back the way we came. I like little deviations like that. It makes it interesting.

Anyway, the next morning we went to Denny's for breakfast and left Vancouver. I really like being there. Sigh.

We drove home on Sunday and made it just past Blue River when the alternator on his car crapped out. I'm positive that's the technical term for it too. So we hitched back to Blue River, called AMA, and waited for them. There is no cell service there which sucked. So AMA towed us to Valemount and we spent the night in the Valemount hotel which has the only bar in town. We drank till they closed.

The next day we went to the shop and they said they couldn't get a new alternator until Tuesday, but we found a shop in Hinton that said they could do it that day. So we charged the battery and drove there. He bought a new battery also which was good because the first one died just past Jasper and we had to switch them. When we got to the shop in Hinton, they told us they couldn't do it till the next day which was stupid. They were pretty incompetant if you ask me. So I called my sister in Grande Cache and she came down and picked us up. We stayed at her place on Monday night, and she drove us back to Hinton in the morning. The shop took 2 hours longer than they said they would, and we waited an hour for a cab to get to the shop, so we didn't get out of there until 3:45. Anyway, we found out at that point that they had closed the Coquihalla the day after we went through, due to too much snow. So I guess we were lucky.

We made it home on Tuesday night. I figure, we had such a good time that it was karma making up for it.

I'm tired. Night all. Sleep well.
