I know you're probably sick of talking about politics and would rather get back to getting your tattoo sleeves completed, now that we are all in the Promised Land, but I do want to express a concern that I have with the new Obama administration. Or rather, my concern with the mess that the new administration will be inheriting. I am worried that this new administration will be spending so much time undoing the damage that has been done to the American government - from banning funding to embryonic stem research to establishing a culture of Christian conservative partisanship in the Justice Department to the Iraq War to fixing the credit crisis - that it will not be able to effectively execute on some or all of the items of the pre-election Obama agenda. I fear that some members of the coalition that was built to elect Obama will get frustrated that the administration is not moving fast enough on its promises, as the administration prioritizes which of parts of the Obama platform become policies, given the day-to-day reality of dealing with the mess that Bush will leave on January 20th, 2009. Meh, maybe I'm being too much of a pessimist. I really do hope that the people who worked to get Obama elected don't become disillusioned with him, the way some of us democratic socialists became disillusioned with Bob Rae and the NDP, after their reign of power in the province of Ontario in Canada.
In other news, still no bites on the personals profile. Maybe I'm just too old now to be date-worthy? At least I love going to my job in the morning. I'm finally getting to do the kind of game-play engineering that I've always wanted to do, after years toiling at doing systems engineering and UI programming. It's early, but I think we really have the potential to rock the MMO space with this one. I was heart-broken and dissatisfied with my career earlier this year. Now, I'm just heart-broken. That's progress, right?
