I was going to bombard you all with Sundies photos, but after coming home from work this morning, I arrived to find one of my rats, Maylene, beyond help with sickness. She's been having some sinus problems, but was doing just fine until this morning. She had lost more than half of her weight overnight, and was barely breathing. We took her to the vet and they said there was nothing we could do, so the most humane thing was to put her down.
Death can never really be anticipated, and even the hardiest of us can be severely moved by it. Maylene was always a little special, having had neurological problems, but she was always a happy, sweet little critter. This is just not what I had expected, and so soon after my other rat had passed (granted, it's been 7+ months since his passing, but that is still too soon).
This weekend just has not been too good, but I hope to have some time off to work on stuff for SG, like get my application in, and then work on my set!
