1965 -- The Rolling Stones, who took their name from a Muddy Waters song, hit #1 on the Billboard chart. It was their first time at the top. The hit, (I Cant Get No) Satisfaction, stayed at #1 for 4 weeks.
1971 -- The United States lifted a 21 year trade ban with China.
1975 -- Cher filed for divorce from rocker Greg Allman, just ten days after the couple had married. She said that Allman had been moonlighting with an old flame.
