today i got to shoo the dalai lama. I'm proud to say that i've gotten the chance to not only see, but document for society somehting that very few are privalaged to see.

Aside form that it was a lousy event. His Holyness was awesome, don't get me wrong, the even was just so poorly missmanaged / over managed by Rutgers' Office of Public Affairs that it took some serious self controle to not screem at those in charge.

The event was held in Rutges Stadium Complex on the football feild. They wouldn't let "any media on the green."

BULLSHIT!!!
I clearly say (through my FUCKING 300mm lense) at least 4 photographers, and probably close to a dozen video camera opertors.

They said it was the state department. I say thats also Bullshit. They had well over 100 people sitting out on the green (some of whom had cameras, some of whom i knew as members of the media, Will, and Lisa to name a few).

And I, probably the thrid most important (and first unrecognized) member of the Rutgers Media comunity, could not get onto the feild. I was only lucky nough that i had Eric R Carter their as back-up, cause some how he managed to get one of the photographers allowed onto the feild to give up his all access bracelet.

I had been searched, i had a Media pass, i went through checkpoints, and all that realy acheived was a free seat in front of some fat chicks who kept on calling me "Irish" and complaining about how the handicap routes through the stadium were made inconveinent by the CIA's security.

I even went down to the gate to try and get on the feild after His Holyness had departed with his motorcade so i wouldnt have to walk the circumfrence of the stadium to get back to the press boxes only to witness the "STAFF" shirted jackholes give a couple of monks a hard time...

THEY WERN"T LETTING MONKS ONTO THE FEILD!!!

it was the stupidest mother fucking thing i had ever seen, and the administration has no remorse what so ever.

I also got to shoot the closing ceremony of the Mandala yesterday. All i can say is beautiful. That and how disapointed i am in the actions of the people in attendance durring and after the ceremony. Ignoreant douche nozels should realy be screened. I had at lwast 3 people climbing on me whilei was trying to shoot (ignoring the idiots who were taking pictures with their camera phones and video with their digicams...) and after the ceremony was done, it was practically a riot to get the litlte packets of Mandala sand that the monks were giving out.

But still not unexpected.

But i must say, i would be a complete idiot not to see that hsi was all just a cosmic test of waht i 've learned over the past few days about compasion for others. If you're not a participant in the solutions, your a part of the problem. I can only hope that though my photography and Jounalism i can enlighten a few people that wern't there to see the greatest man alive, if nto the most sincere and genuin.

Well i have my 8:10 class in 6 hours, i better get home now.
