I have been thinking about the nature of humor and people. It seems more and more people do not know how to create original humor. TV and other media has basically made all humor between people referential based. For example all of the pop culture references people us. I once spent a half an hour with a buddy of mine channeling various episodes of the systems. It seems the dry wit and the art of the joke is fairly dead. The people with these skills are so few and far between that when you meet someone that is generally funny it is refreshing. I am not just talking about someone that has a deeper pop culture base than you do. I should point out that referential based humor has its place and can be extremely funny in context but it seems to have over taken most other forms of comedy and humor.

I am sure people have been saying this for a long time (People talking about dropping lines from Shakespeare) but I have noticed it a lot in myself. Anyone have any thoughts.
