The sun pops out and suddenly Spring is....well Spring. Here the first bit of Spring is like an extension of Winter under a new guise, designed solely to get your hopes up, and then crush them. Looking at the forecast though, I think it just may finally be Spring. This will quickly warp into Summer, but in the meantime, it is very important.

Everything turns a variation of grey or brown here in the winter. Even the street signs that are normally bright get covered in snow and salt and turn dull. It does something to you. Everyone I know slowly turns into a bit of a recluse. We're not unfriendly, we're just not outgoing. It's like everyone digs in, gets in their foxhole, and doesn't peak out for 6 months unless it's absolutely necessary.

When Spring finally breaks, it's like a war has been won, we were victorious, and we feel like accomplished veterans. The only thing you can possibly talk about for the next couple weeks here, if you want anyone to listen, is the weather. Have a non-weather story to tell, it's probably going to get cut off halfway through with "How about this sunshine?"

The reason I'm writing this is because along with most other, I too survived yet another battle. I do feel victorious right now basking in the sun (even if it's through the office window). And like any society after a battle is over, it's time to start getting back on with our normal lives.

So what do I do now? My guitar has been staring me down a lot lately, so I think I'll take that up again and see if I can regain some of my former ability. My camera has really been staring me down a lot lately. See if I can find some shutterbug companions and go on a photo excursion on some sort of regular basis this Spring/Summer. With the revelation that we may be leaving this peculiar state in a couple of years, I also think I might try and venture out past the two usual parks we visit. See more parks from different places. I would also like to go visit my Grandfather's grave, as his battle is over, but his memory still makes me smile. I want to walk through the town he lived in with my wife, and tell her stories of what I did their when I would go visit him. Hopefully give her more of an understanding of why I miss him so much.

So,

What are you going to be up to? And who wants to go on a photo excursion?
