I wanted to go running after her.
But I knew it was what she needed.
I watched her leave the apartment building, and then walk down the street.
I even think I saw her driving away.

And I sat out front and waited.
I was hoping she would change her mind.
I tried to go back inside, but each time I'd have to just check, that maybe I'd catch her walking back up the block.
The girl in the big pink marshmellow coat running back with open arms.

But it never happened and now she's gone.
