The past week of my life...(not complaining this time)

So apart from complaining about work (I know that has to get annoying), I did actually do some shit with my life:

I went up to Philly to see Rush, which has been one of my favorite bands since I was young (my dad pretty much never played anything else in car, so it's fitting I saw it with him). It may or may not be their last tour, so I decided I needed a shirt to commemorate this (and it goes nicely with the tour shirt I got when I saw them in 2007.

Although seeing them did make me deal with my very real fear of heights because our seats were pretty far up in the air, and at an angle that I still argue was insane to build.

Naturally, being in Philly made me want a cheesesteak, so I attempted, and mastered, the artform using real steak, and the actual recipe from Pat's King of Steaks... So damn delicious.

Finally, and the most wordy part of all of this. I watched "The Babadook" the other night. I loved every second of it, and I've loved trying to figure out the meaning of everything in it. If you haven't seen it, change that, and watch it immediately. It's that damn good.

And it got me thinking about a film I tried, and sadly failed, to make back in 2013.

It was a feature length film (Somnium), and when I finally got all the parts to come together (even the large budget), the company that was producing it pulled the rug from me, and everything went to hell pretty quickly. And while I still see it as my biggest failure so far, I had no idea how to really make a film then, so I'm kind of glad it didn't work out.

But watching The Babadook got me thinking about recreating the story as a serious horror-drama. Horror to help visualize a characters developing schizophrenia, but drama to convey their reaction, and it's impact on those around him. So now it's time to go about doing some pretty drastic, and altogether awesome, rewrites to what I consider to be one of my best scripts.

And now that my roommate has moved out, and took her large framed 17th century map painting (I actually wish she had left it), I can use the large blank wall in my living room to create the most comically over-sized flow chart I've ever made.

That was my week, and look at that, I didn't even complain.

Cool to see Rush with your father! I cherish those times I had with my father when he was alive.
