so i'm sick of this place and i think i'm going to save up some money and disappear for a while.
i like the idea of just up and moving to another city/country. new york or london. probably london because i'm sick of wanting to go down to my local and having to walk more than two blocks and give an arm for a beer. shit beer at that. and what do you want when truth in human connection is lacking? alcohol.
the peacecorps isn't out of the question, but i don't know if i can wait that long and i still have to fight like hell to get a degree i've already earned:
"um, you still have to take another semester of foreign language, and a lab science, miss."
"but i have two majors and i was in an honours program and you sent me to oxford."
"yes miss, but we still want your money. and your soul. could you sign that check in blood please?"
"...i thought you were jesuits?"
"blood."
also, this is what my phantom degree (similar to a phantom limb---i keep reaching for it, but it's not there) has amounted to: i work in retail. what's more: i have become a go-to for grammarical success amongst my group of friends and non-friends and well-i-guess-we're-friends-but-i'm-not-sure-someday-i-might-figure-it-out alike.
"heather, what's that dot-dot-dot thingy?"

"heather how do you spell exquisite?"
"e-x-q-u-i-s-i-t-e."
"could you read this craiglist post for 'missed connections' and tell me what's wrong with it?"
"you spelled 'the' 'teh' and albeit in this structure forms a clause. you're gonna need some correctly placed commas, son. you should also invest some time in learning about the semicolon; it's sexy."
i am writing a thing for this reading on 12/4 that i said i'd, well, read at. i am inclined towards the title:
"i am a ..."

I know how you feel, I've been thinking a lot about London lately. Nothing against New York, just that I've already lived there. As for Mars, well that remains to be seen. Maybe life's there, we just don't know what it looks like? Maybe in some other dimension they're sending probes here to try and find life on this silly place, and wondering what the fuck a fjord is?
