My whole entire life I've found that I've always been someone who protested. Protested against how the world was working and protested against myself. I realize now that discovering what the problem is is only the first of many steps of realize how things work. I just watched a great documentary on chuck palahniuk and it included in it one of the best metaphors for life I have ever found.
"During the beginning of the nation, bever pelt hats were the big thing. You weren't a somebody unless you had a big bever hat. So everyone went up to places like Oregon and hunted bevers close to extinction. Today greenpeace would be all over the situation, and they'd be chaining themselves to beavers, protesting SAVE THE BEAVERS! SAVE THE BEAVERS! But that's not what would have saved beavers, it's the fashion designer who decided that beavers were old and moved on to something else."
That's great. That's fantatic. Today, I realized the two artists that I respect the most, the band TOOL and Chuck Palahniuk, their thought process is even more interesting that what they're creating. I read the interviews of both these people, and I realized just a little while ago that that's what I want. I want to be able to think the most fucked up things like that.
It's almost like a riddle though of what came first; The amazing commitment to the arts or the crazy thought process.
That's what I want to be.
