Holloween was fun. My friend Tom and I went to see The Slip and it was great. The sad fact of the matter was that neither of us knew how the hell to get where we were going to and mapquest is the devil of all directions. It ended up taking us 4 1/2 hours to make it from Providence to where we wanted to be in Boston. Average time is about an hour. We stopped at gas stations and the people either spoke bad english or just had no idea. We ended up finding Commonwealth Av, finally got to where we wanted to go, and surprisingly we ended up arriving right on time.
The Slip is terrific though, the drummer was going insane and the crowd was great. I can't wait to see them again.
Everyone came in costumes and the two best i saw was the guy dressed up as a hillbilly with a blow up sheep attached to his crotch and there were people dressed up as tetris blocks and had a boom box playing the theme music to tetris, I thought that was fantastic.
At rock shows I always want to meet the interesting people that i'm around. There were two girls standing in front of me who were pretty. There was one girl dressed up as a kitten, she was adorable. and there was this redhead with dreadlocks who was dressed up in some sort of costume that was a peter-pan kinda thing. From what overheard the redhead was the other girls roommate and they had fake id's to say they were 21+.
Ever look at someone and get the feeling that they were just a really kind and beautiful person? Thats how these girls were. I knew the way I thought of them wasn't the truth, but I still had to dream. I fell in love with the redhead in my own sort of weird way, and at the end of the show I had to express how I felt. After the encore I tapped her on the shoulder and spoke into her ear, "Before I leave I just wanted to tell you that I think you're beautiful." I'll never forget how fun it was to speak into her dreadlock covered ear. Then I kinda gave her a half smile and walked away. She doesn't know my name or number and I don't have hers, so in that way I can love her forever.
To be honest I feel kinda selfish for what I said to her. I hope that she thinks of me like I think of her. I get melancholy when I think how we'll never see each other again.
