I got a job offer to go to Istanbul to teach English. If I were done with school, I'd go in a heartbeat. It's only for 6 months, but the pay isn't that great, and I'd miss the hell out of my kitties, family and friends and Cuppycake. But then I think of all the shiney jingly things I could buy it'd be a 6 month shopping spree! If I went, every day I'd sing:

Istanbul was constantinople
Now its istanbul, not constantinople
Been a long time gone, constantinople
Now its turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in constantinople
Lives in istanbul, not constantinople
So if youve a date in constantinople
Shell be waiting in istanbul

Even old new york was once new amsterdam
Why they changed it I cant say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to constantinople
No, you cant go back to constantinople
Been a long time gone, constantinople
Why did constantinople get the works?
Thats nobodys business but the turks

Istanbul (istanbul)

I was a TA for a philosophy class once, and there was this brilliant and interesting woman there who was struggling with the decision to go to Spain to apprentice with a flamenco dancer, or continue on to grad school.

Everybody said grad school.

I told her school would be there when she came back.

I won.
