I have a bit of an obsession with eyes. I can't look at people I the eyes. I can't stand to be watched ( Your gaze hits the side of my face - magazine ad). My nickname is the fear of eyes.

Yesterday in my communication and interactions class we did something very special. We were told to be in groups of two: one would be blindfolded and the other would be leading the blind person through the school using only his voice. At first, being blind was very frightening. I don't think I really trusted my partner and I'm a bit of a control freak so it was hard for me not to peek out the blind fold. Eventually, I started getting used to being blind and it was actually kind of fun and really relaxing. When I took off the blindfold, everything was so vivid. It was like my eyes experienced a sensorial overload.
I wonder if the stress we feel everyday is partly caused by all the visual stimulation we see. The bright lights maybe..or misinterpreted non-verbal behaviour from others.. I dont know, of course. All I know is that , for a moment, I felt very serene.

You know how , when you ask people which of their senses they would be miserable without, most people pick their eyesight. I probably would have picked that too at one point, but now I'm not sure. It really wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be. It's fun to go outside your own perception sometimes.

Most people like to be visually stimulated and so here is an apt picture of a graffiti I found whilst walking around.

I'm rambling today. I'm so tired. I'm sorry

you weren't rambling, it was interesting.

i've never thought of it like that and although i would hate to lose my eyesight and never be able to see my children again, it would be an interesting experiment to undertake.

take care.

Sounds like a mild version of a sensory dep tank - certainly an interesting sensation.
