I have rejoined the working world, back in sales, 9 to 5:30, horrendous daily commute, the whole 9 yards. I'm not happy about it, but there you go. I was just starting to make some decent money out of freelancing, but people mess you around so much, and my savings were dwindling fast. Then, typically, just as I'd scored a 400 writing contract from an...

So Valentine's out of the way - the recipient of my card thought it was from her Mum. This probably says a lot more about her self-esteem rather than my cunning...

Anyway, I'm now an actor again. Hurrah. In June I'll be appearing in a South West London amateur dramatics production of Midsummer Night's Dream as.. Snug the Joiner. Aka the guy who has four...

Each evening I potter home from Ladbroke Grove, usually with my head in a book. Tonight it was the French edition of Neil Gaiman's Stardust. I didn't quite have the energy for French so picked up a London Lite free paper outside the Tube.

Getting off to change lines at Hammersmith, I passed a knot of free paper distributors. The fact that I already had...

Once upon a time, I was a film scholar of sorts. Not for long, just long enough to get my MPhil and then realise I couldn't afford to stay on to do a doctorate. I specialised in French New Wave cinema, and the early films of Jean-Luc Godard in particular.

I even, in an ill-advised fit of self-importance, self-published my MPhil thesis on Lulu -...

Work is kind of weird at the moment - I'm sort of hitting my targets and everyone sort of seems to be happy with me, but I get the feeling I'm not quite justifying my silly salary. It's not good to feel like you're underperforming and being conspicuously expensive in the current climate, and it's been sharpened by the fact we've just had our first...

I live again!

I rejoined SG a couple of months back, didn't bother with the blog because the only reason I rejoined was out of sheer boredom at nothing happening in my life.

ANYWAY... then my Internet went down. For six weeks.

Thanks to everyone who hasn't kicked me off friends lists for being utterly inactive. Hopefully I'll be around a bit.

Um, any news,...

I'm so ill. People claim to have projectile vomited too readily. It's VERY different to just throwing up a lot.

I was in bed for about 18 hours, and I have a feeling I'm going back there any minute.

I read Wil Wheaton's blog, both here and elsewhere. And I feel I have to make a statement.

I thought Wesley Crusher was all right.

I was 11 when ST:TNG came to BBC2 and, although we were all deeply cynical about the show in general after the execrable trailer on the rental version of Star Trek IV, me and all my nerdy friends quite liked...

Ah, a new year, I've had a birthday, it's all scary stuff.

I've recently surprised myself by getting quite good at cooking. This weekend was Sirloin Steak in Mushroom Sauce, with Mushroom Stroganoff this morning. That was nice, and so is the beer I'm currently drinking.

Too Much Love Can Kill You entirely failed to provoke any producers into posting me a thick contract for...
