I am going to Detroit in three hours. I played a gig there once, but was way to drunk to remember even playing there. So in my mind I have never been there. I don't know any one there either. Oh yeah and I have no where to stay. I have done this before, many times. So I think this form of travel can only lead to excitement.
Away from everything that I know, alone. To think and have the freedom to just be. No where to go, and nothing to do. A nobody in a strange place. At least for a while. I won't be gone forever, but hopefully just long enough.
Every time I go on these "urban camping" trips, I add another chapter in my never ending book. Which hopefully someday will be published. All though the purpose of these trips is not to write a book, I have accumulated three 60,000 word true fact books about "urban camping" in almost every American city. All of which sit in the Library of Congress.
When I return I will be a new man. Call me crazy if you wish. Maybe I am, but being crazy is to much fun. So if I don't die or get arrested or other catostrophic events take place. I promise
my next journal entry will be about Detroit.

ARRR!!! ARRR!!! ARRR!!!

I've heard so many good things about Detroit. I live really close, but I have never been. When I was growing up it was always talked about like the big bad scary American city. Now some of my friends go all the time and the only thing they bitch about is not being able to order pizza for delivery after dark.

Don't get arrested.

How are you getting there?
